Self Care Sunday Routine

Wanted to share a quick run down of my self care sunday skincare routine i showed in my insta stories tonight. everything I used is linked below! enjoy!

Cleanse

After my hot steam shower which helps open up your pores, I first cleanse my face with my Clarisonic using this deep pore brush head and this cream cleanser by Kiehls. I’ll then use my hands to wash my face with this brightening cleanser by Revisions Skincare. I have considered buying a steamer similar to this one for times I don’t need to shower, it’d definitely come in handy.

Extract

Once my face is all clean I will then extract any blemishes with this tool. Don’t be too hard on your skin and know when to stop picking!! You don’t want to make it worse. Right now I’m using an Impressions mirror but I really want this bad boy.

Prep

Next I’ll prep my skin with this GloPRO prep pad just in case anything was left behind and then I’ll  use my Dermaflash to remove any peach fuzz and dead skin. It also helps with exfoliation and by removing that layer of unwanted nastiness it helps all your product in the next steps penetrate into your skin and  let’s them work to their fullest.  Next I use my GloPRO Microneedling tool, I splurged on this during the Nordstrom anny sale and I’m so glad I did. This tool works from the inside out by triggering skin’s natural healing process and inducing micro-regeneration deep within the skin. As 540 surgical stainless-steel microneedles pass over your skin, the rejuvenation process begins immediately as your cells respond to thousands of imperceptible microchannels by creating new collagen and restoring skin’s volume.

Mask

Yes To Grapefruit Vitamin C Glow Boosting Bubbling Paper Mask Single Use Facial Treatment - image 1 of 3

Now this is where I’d typically put on my regular nightly routine of products, however since it’s ‘Self Care Sunday’ this is where the mask’s come in. Tonight I used this charcoal peel mask which I love. This mask refines my pores and brightens my skin overall. I have naturally dry skin so if I do  a peel mask that typically tightens my face I then like to follow it up with a moisturizing mask. I picked up a few of theses ‘Say Yes’ mask’s from Target and tonight I used their bubbling brightening grapefruit sheet mask.  TIP: always take the extra ‘juice’ and rub it on your neck and chest. If there is a lot left in the packet I will stick it in the fridge and apply it to my face the next morning.

products

Final step, products. I’m currently using this eye cream along with lash boost for my lashes. I absolutely LOVE lash boost and can’t live with out it. When it comes to eye cream, I’ve never quite found one that I’m obsessed with. They all do an amazing job at de-puffing but I can’t seem to find one that gets ride of my dark circles in a life changing way. Anyways, I’ll then use this retinol by Skin Ceuticals and then wrap it up with this dry oil by Sunday Riley which I love. It helps fight acne including black heads along with helps fight acne scaring.

Extras

I’ve been taking these Glow Sweet Glow gummies by HUM which have hyaluronic acid, vitamin C & E which are all so amazing for  your skin. I will also drop one of these collagen pop tablets into a glass of water every other day or so which taste amazing, it’s a very soft lavender rose taste, and also does wonders for your skin.

So I know this whole routine may seem overwhelming and like a lot BUT skincare and preventative maintenance is very important – plus it’s very relaxing too! As always, let me know if you have any questions in the comments below!

Friyay Favorites {October 5th}

Happy happy Friyay y’all! Whew, we made it. It’s been quite the week for me as we packed up our house and moved it all to the garage to prepare for the inside of our house to be painted from ceiling to floor. After paint we’ll get the floors going and then hopefully be back into normal living conditions in 3-4 weeks!  ANYWAYS, I’m super excited for this weekend, if you’re from Kansas City y’all should be sure to come by the HMK store on the plaza to celebrate their 5th birthday! I’ll be there along with other local bloggers, influencers and local creators doing a live question panel and sharing insight into what we do. Okay, now onto why you clicked on this post, here are my current favorites for the week!

Healthy Skin is Always in {Self Care = Self Love}

I get a lot of questions about my skin care routine all the time. I love skin care, make up and I’m all about getting dolled up & the pretty photo filters. However, there is also something so refreshingly beautiful about being comfortable in your own bare skin & seeing other women do & feel the same about themselves. I myself am striving to go at least once a week w/o make up to give my skin the chance to breathe & to help normalize embracing your natural beauty. I hate that most women feel the need to apologize if they run into someone while out running errands and they don’t have make up on. Or that your co-workers would think something was wrong or you must have had a rough morning if you chose to not wear make up that day to the office.

Holy Grail, Must Have Beauty Products

If you’ve followed my blog for awhile now then you know I’m a beauty product junkie and I always love trying out new and trending products. Over the last few years but especially this past year I’ve tried so many products both name brand and drug store. I’m all about finding the perfect ones that not only work well in the moment to enhance natural beauty but also work longterm to work against the signs of aging such as wrinkles, age and sun spots, enlarged pores, capillaries, and adult acne and blackheads.

 if I only had 5 min’s to grab items before fleeing These are the beauty products that I would choose to grab (after my dogs, childhood stuffed animal, and other keepsakes of course). my holy grail, must have, go to items that I can truly tell a negative difference in my skin if I go more than 3 days without using them. these are the products that work best for my combination but mostly dry skin.

My Current Nightly Skin Care Routine

{my NIGHTLY skin care routine}

as promised today I’m sharing part 2 of my skin care routine detailing out everything I do and use in the pm. fair warning, my nightly routine might seem like a lot and to be honest I probably spend more time taking off my make up and caring for my skin than i actually do putting on my make up. however, I do truly believe that all of these steps are totally worth the extra time for healthy skin in the long run.

My Current Morning Skin Care Routine

I originally had this post featuring both my AM and PM skin care routines but it was lonnnng. So, I’m going to break it up into two separate post’s this week for you guys. Starting it off with today’s post sharing my morning skin care routine.  I mentioned in my ‘A Year in Review’ blog post that taking good care of my skin is a major part of my 2018 goals. I really started caring for my skin when I got engaged in 2015 and even then I wasn’t doing all that I could have been. Before then, there were many times {more than I want to admit} where I’d go to bed with my make up on. I wasn’t following a routine and I thought a make up wipe, face wash, and a basic moisturizer was good enough. If only we could only go back in time to tell our younger selves to take better self care, sigh.

The older I get the more I realize how lucky I am to have a healthy body with no major issues. I am so grateful for that and I want to really start taking the best possible care of it that I can, which includes my skin. Jack McFarland from Will & Grace says it best, “There’s no shame in getting old. There’s only shame in getting ugly.” 😉 Aging gracefully is a goal of mine and I’m taking all the preventative measures I can in order to do so.

A Year in Review + Blush Velour Jumpsuit

hi friends, happy 2018 to you all!

i posted this pretty blush velour jumpsuit on my instagram page a few weeks ago and i’m so sorry it’s taken me this long to do a full post on all the details. i love that jumpsuits are so on trend right now as this was the perfect piece to wear to a holiday party without having to freeze my legs off in a dress or skirt. i know the holidays are over but a jumpsuit would also be perfect for any banquets or weddings you have coming up this winter and even more perfect for a dressy valentine’s date night look next month.

with it being a new year, a fresh start, a clean slate – whatever you want to call it. i wanted to reflect on 2017 and share some of my new resolutions/goals for 2018 in today’s post as well. i know, i know, it’s a very cliché thing to do and it’s something that doesn’t and honestly shouldn’t have to wait until january 1st to sit down and do. even so, I’m still pretty into it and enjoy setting new goals to better myself & lifestyle. can we also address how satisfying it was that the first day of the new year was on a monday this year? so lovely.

Must Have Mask Monday + My Round Up of Current Favorite Beauty Products

Like most women I have become obsessed with skin care, really just self-care in general, since being in my mid twenties. In my late teen years and even my early twenties I think I pretended to care and thought I was doing ‘good enough’ when it came to taking care of my skin. Ohhh boy, was I so very wrong about this. It was probably age 23 that my skin started showing the first signs of aging as in ‘you’re not 13 anymore and can’t just go to bed with out washing your face and everything be okay’. It was age 24 and the year I got engaged that I actually made the commitment to start doing something about it. Basic things like drinking plenty of water, using SPF on the daily, and washing your face every night before bed are all very important, yes. Though in my personal opinion finding the right products that are proven with reviews and stand the test of being great quality is right up at the top of the list. With that being said, I wanted to share some of my favorite skin care products along with hair care products that I’ve been using within the last few months and even some of them for half my life.
