exactly one year ago today i hit ‘publish’ for the first time and i’m so glad i did. i was just coming off a year of planning my dream wedding and hungry for something to fill my free time. i started elle mae bloom, which has now turned into just elle mae, as a creative outlet and platform to share my favorite fashions, beauty, decor, travel, and so much more.

Loving this delicate rose gold choker necklace with versatile front or back drops.
today on my one year blogiversary i’ve decided to RE-BRAND and relaunch from elle mae bloom: fashion + LIFESTYLE + events blog to elle mae: a fashion + lifestyle blog. While the wedding + event planning and rental aspect of this venture was so much fun and i still have a few more weddings in the future that i’m so excited about it’s just something i’m not deeply passionate about. I’m thankful that i tried it out and RECOGNIZED that within this first year before i got in too deep. with that being said i wanted to share the 4 most IMPORTANT things i took away from my first year of blogging.
{ growth }
it’s not as easy as it may look people. blogging is time consuming and hard – it’s really hard. gaining a following – that’s even harder. but with hard work comes major pay off. i’m one year in and couldn’t be anymore thankful for my 960 blog followers, 6,500 instagram followers, and 334 facebook followers. I am so thankful for each and every one of you and your loyalty you’ve shown me and my little blog.
{ hustle }
you have to be deeply passionate about blogging and your ‘why’ or purpose for this to work out and pay off in the end. CONSISTENCY is key along with being yourself and unique in your own way. there are literally hundreds of thousands of blogs out there, and SUCCESSFUL ESTABLISHED ones at that. you have to set yourself a part from the rest and keep your readers coming back for more.
{ be PATIENT and don’t compare yourself }
Be patient but don’t stop hustling. don’t compare your BEGINNING to someone else’s years of success, as a matter of fact don’t compare yourself to anyone else’s anything. You’ll have days when you’re on top of the world and everything is going perfect and other days nothing will go well at all. you’ll feel uninspired and second guess yourself and ask yourself if all this work is really even WORTH it. all i can tell you is if you’re passionate about whatever your dream is you will find a way to push through OBSTACLES thrown your way and make that dream into a reality.
{ Overcome fear and just get out there }
don’t wait for companies to reach out to you for collaborations, get out there and email companies you’re PASSIONATE about and sign up for their AFFILIATE programs. though i may seem outgoing to some i think i’m truly an independent introvert. I love to be at home with my dogs and husband (ha, just realized what order i typed that in, love you erick) i really had to work at getting out there in the community and getting to know other bloggers or people in my same interest field. this is something i’m still working on everyday but networking is truly one of the best ways to succeed in life.
{ g i v e a w a y }

Thanks so much, Sophie!! This first year had its challenges but it was all worth it in the end! Excited for year #2! 🙂
Happy Blog anniversary! I read a statistic a while back that something like 80 or 90 percent of new blogs won’t make it past six months. I remember when I got to six month of my blogging I understood why they didn’t make it. Because that was also the time I felt burned out from posting every day, and felt like quitting as well. I am glad I didn’t. And I am so happy that you didn’t either. Cheers to making it to one year! From now on it will just get better and easier. xo, Emily
