What to Wear on The 4TH of July

THERE IS SOMETHING SO FUN ABOUT BEING A LITTLE BIT ‘EXTRA’ DURING THE HOLIDAYS. I LOVE THE CHEESINESS OF THEMED OUTFITS, PARTIES, DECOR, AND FOOD FOR ANY OCCASION AND THE FOURTH IS NO EXCEPTION. WITH INDEPENDENCE DAY QUICKLY APPROACHING NEXT TUESDAY I WANTED TO SHARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE LOOKS AND OUTFITS, RECIPES, AND DECOR WITH Y’ALL! THE FOURTH HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART – AFTER ALL I DID LAUNCH MY BLOG ON THE 4TH LAST YEAR. I CANNOT BELIEVE IT’S BEEN AN ENTIRE YEAR ALREADY! MORE ON THAT NEXT WEEK…

{ outfit inspiration }

it couldn’t be a better season for gingham to be all the rage and in full swing. it’s the perfect print to piece together your 4th of july outfit and can be found in shades of both red and blue in practically every department store. I just love this bow tie belle sleeve blouse im wearing, I’m always looking for pieces that just have that extra detail of uniqueness to set it apart and this top did just that. Have y’all heard of reese witherspoon’s adorable stores and clothing line, draper james?! it’s seriously the cutest with every piece having that southern charm touch LIKE THAT ADORABLE “tOTES Y’ALL” TOTE PICTURED ABOVE. when i was in nashville last year i got the chance to go to her store, it was as ADORABLE as you’d imagine. Add a festive red lip to any 4th outfit you fancy up & you’re all set! My favorite red right now is the Revlon ultra HD matte lipcolor, which I’m wearing here.

{ how to throw the best merica’ party }

once again, the fourth is the perfect excuse to go all out with your favorite treats! how DELICIOUS do these star red velvet ice cream sandwich’s look, my mouth is literally watering as i type. add this merica’ colada and you’re sure to be the hostest with the mostest. I love the idea of drinks in a big tin bucket or old wheelbarrow with ice for an old fashioned feel and barista string lights for the perfect setting once the sun goes down.

Anyone have any super exciting plans for the long holiday weekend? We are just staying here in KC and going to our friends annual 4th party where I’m going to try and whip up one of those recipes from above! Maybe I’ll even use My new kitchen aid that I got for birthday and it has just been sitting pretty since May (insert monkey covering eyes emoji) wish me luck!

always,

x – Leah
