Hey y’all! I’m so excited to share all the deets about Erick & I’s anniversary stay in Scottsdale, Arizona at The Saguaro Hotel last week. We wanted a trip where we could just lay pool side and relax yet still be able to walk to local and trendy restaurants and boutiques but not necessarily a trip pack full with activities and a itinerary planned out each day. Well, we got exactly what we were looking for by staying at The Saguaro, Scottsdale.
not only were the views gorgeous with the vibrant colors EVERYWHERE YOU looked but the saguaro was truly ACCOMMODAting. it was exactly what you want when you go on vacation, the staff was there if you ever had a question or needed something but they weren’t walking by every 5 minutes asking you if you were doing okay, it was perfect.
THE SAGuaro SCOTTSDALE HAS TWO POOLS, THE MAIN BIGGER POOL WHICH HAS A MORE UPBEAT VIBE WITH A FULL BAR AND FOOD MENU AND THEN THEIR CALM POOL WHERE THERE IS NO BAR AND INSTEAD A CALMING FOUNTAIN. you can always walk across the way and get food and drink to take back with you to the calm pool, which is a nice feature. BOTH POOLS ARE SURROUND BY GORGEOUS PALM TREE’S AND VIBRANT FLOWERS, ALONG WITH THE CUTEST YELLOW LOUNGE CHAIRS AND UMBRELLAS.
{ old town scottsdale + RECOMMENdations }
what they call old town scottsdale is literally two blocks away from the hotel which was perfect as we didn’t have to rent a car and could walk practically everywhere. IF we wanted to go somewhere a little further an uber ride was only $10 tops. Old town scottsdale is full of adorable boutiques, RESTAURANTS, coffee shops, ice cream shops, and tons of art galleries. the saguaro also had the cutest bikes you could take and ride into old town if you didn’t want to be on your feet. saturday night we started out right with CINE agave mexican CUISINE for dinner which was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. sunday morning we headed to r&r which is a hot spot for brunch as they are known for their bottomless mimosa’s and bloody mary’s. this place was awesome with open air indoor/outdoor seating concept and an upper deck as well. sugar bowl is the cutest old fashioned burger and ice cream joint and was so close to our hotel, it made perfect for a late night sweet treat after a day in the sun. Salty SENORITA was another mexican cantina that i loved so much. with an outdoor patio and a happy hour that goes until 7pm it was perfect. They had the most delicious queso dip and margarita. the saguaro had very yummy food as well, we ate lunch poolside most days and i was a big fan of their flat breads and chips and guac. we went to the saguaro RESTAURANT for brunch one morning and i had the most DELICIOUS BREAKFAST BURRITO with bacon, SAUSAGE, egg, black beans, AVOCADO, and a DELICIOUS chipotle ranch SAUCE.

OUR DELICIOUS BRUNCH AT R&R. ERICK HAD BISCUITS AND GRAVY AND I HAD BREAKFAST TACOS, BOTH COMPLETE WITH BOTTOMLESS BLOODY MARY’S.

THE FAMOUS SUGAR BOWL.

DELICIOUS MARGARITA + CHIPS & QUESO FROM SALTY SENORITA.

THE MOST DELISH BREAKFAST BURRITO I DESCRIBED ABOVE FROM THE SAGUARO HOTEL.
i pretty much made erick do every extra activity and EXCURSION when we went on our honeymoon last year so i promised him this trip would be strictly relaxing and nothing too busy. the one time we did DECIDED to uber it we went to top golf and it was so fun – not to mention the gorgeous mountain backdrop you can’t get here in kansas city.
the saguaro also has a gorgeous spa but UNFORTUNATELY they were booked full or closed the days we chose to go, so i’d DEFINITELY recommend booking your treatment ahead of time. we stayed at the saguaro saturday-tuesday and so we missed the thursday night PADDLE BOARD yoga they offer EVERY WEEK, this looks like quite the EXPERIENCE!
{ PLACES TO go & BE SEEN }
WITH OUR TRIP ONLY BEING FOUR DAYS AND MY PROMISE TO ERICK To NOT OVERLY jam PACKED the trip THERE WERE A LOT OF REALLY COOL PLACES WE DIDN’T GET TO SEE, I’VE LISTED THOSE BELOW FOR YOU and hope i myself can EXPERIENCE them one day!
DIEGO POPS – of course i didn’t find out about this fabulous place until after our trip, GOSH DANG IT! but diego pops is a MEXICAN RESTAURANT KNOWN FOR THEIR VIBRANT DECOR, taco monday’s (not tuesdays) AND THEIR SWEET TREAT MENu including snow cone margaritas!

HOT AIR BALLOON RIDE OVER THE desert – so i wasn’t really aware of the fact that erick is slightly afraid of heights until i MENTIONED the idea of going on a magical hot air balloon ride over the beautiful arizona desert – needless to say i didn’t force it but i highly recommend it! I have been on a hot air balloon ride before and they are so breathtaking, over the desert would be amazing.
HIKE CAMELBACK – WORK OFF ALL THE DELICIOUS EATS BY TAKING A HIKE UP CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN and take in the gorgeous sights.
farm & craft – farm and craft is right in the middle of old town scottsdale and features indoor/outdoor seating with a farm to table approach. try their signature cocktails including cold pressed wines on tap.
i hope this guide to scottsdale is helpful to those visiting or possibly sparked in interest to visit. it’s such a gorgeous town with a breathtaking backdrop no matter where you look. a special thanks to the saguaro hotel for the fabulous hospitality.
always,
x – leah
