Age twenty-five has greeted me with my first eyesight issues and ultimately having to get glasses to wear at night and for watching TV. – I’m nearsighted. Luckily though eye glasses have truly turned out to be the ultimate fashion accessory. Though we all wish we didn’t have our eyesight problems to begin with the positive here is that there has never been a more fabulous and fashionable selection of frames.
First things first, it’s important to figure out what shape of frame will look best on the shape of your face, there are a ton of guides out there to help you like this one here. Next on the list is pattern, material, and color. You want a frame that’s going to compliment not only your skin tone but your eye color as well. For me, I have a pretty square face shape, meaning my face is fairly uniform and the width of my forehead, cheekbones, and jaw are roughly the same. Rounded edges are best for square face shapes to help soften up the sharpness, the glasses I ended up getting have rounded edges on the bottom.
I love a good statement and I knew I loved the over sized tortoise pattern. I originally tried on the common shades of tortoise you see out there, the browns/yellows but soon found out that those colors are just too harsh with my skin tone and hair color. After a couple different shopping trips I ended up with the Christian Dior Montaigne No. 37 in cream and havana black. I got these beauty’s at Romanelli Optix here in Kansas City. This colorway not only compliments my skin tone but also my hair color and blue eyes. The shape is perfect as it is a bit over sized but not over bearing.
Here are a couple other favorite frames of mine from one of my favorite eye-glass websites, Warby Parker. If you’re a first time shopper with Warby Parker you can use their free try on at home program where you pick out your favorite frames and they send them directly to your home for you to try on and send back. Once you’ve found the ones you can then upload your prescription straight to their website and your glasses will be mailed to you.

Thanks so much Megan! I totally agree, I found the shopping experience to be so much fun and MUCH harder than I thought it’d be!
I couldn’t agree more! Honestly selecting the frames from the website is the toughest- they never look quite like they do on the model!
I think you did! I love the way they look on you and the color is great with your hair color. Very pretty!
