This weekend was all about the Rosé {rose-eh}. From trying a new tasty wine to making the most delicious yellow cake topped with homemade icing and pretty roses. First stop to get the weekend started was to pick up this Julias Dazzel Rose. The first sip leaves you feeling refreshed from the clean mix of strawberry and melon flavors. I enjoyed this sweet wine in my favorite faux gold rimmed wine glasses which were a Homegoods score months ago. This West Elm Metallic Banded collection is so cute and is currently on my want list. GUYS, how fun are these “Yes Way, Rose” plastic cups?! Perfect for a girls night in or bachelorette party.
Now, let’s talk cake shall we. I was born with a sweet tooth and my mouth waters when reading a dessert menu.. it’s a serious problem. As I mentioned in my first post, I’m not very domesticated when it comes to cooking/baking. Having a free weekend I thought, why not give baking a cake a try? While it’s no masterpiece, it actually looks OK. The pretty pink roses I used to garnish the top and the fact that naked cakes are trendy right definitely helped me out. I found this recipe for The Best Yellow Cake and had to give it a try – it did not disappoint. I had fun baking this cake, mostly because it gave me a chance to use some of our pretty new kitchen items we received as gifts at our wedding. I absolutely love this mint Kitchen Aid Hand Mixer and can’t stop swooning over our gold flatware every time I use it. I just adore the sweet “we tied the knot” Anthropologie tea towel, we also received this one as gift (such a cute idea!) Love these pretty copper measuring cups and I can’t get over this gorgeous cake stand, isn’t it great?! Lucky you, it’s available for rent through yours truly!
